Business Development Manager
Dr. Lerwen Liu is the Singapore-based Business Development Manager
in Zyvex Asia. She supports Zyvex Labs CEO and executives on Zyvex Asia’s
building business strategy and partnerships, R & D management, and
identifies and executes new business opportunities. She liaisons with
government agencies, R&D organizations and industries in Asia Pacific
region and promotes Zyvex technologies, products and partnerships to the
micro/nanotechnology R&D and industrial community.
Lerwen has been working in the nanotechnology analysis and consulting
business since January 1999. She has extensive experience in consulting
and networking in nanotechnology worldwide and, particularly, in Asia
specializing in science and technology information intelligence, regional/organizational
competitiveness assessment, technology trends monitoring, event organization,
database building, regional network management as well as business development.
She constantly conducts site visits in government funding agencies, R&D
institutions, industry and business organizations worldwide and acquiring
comprehensive information and analysis on policy, infrastructure, research
and technology readiness, competitiveness and trends. She provides exceptional
insights on nanotechnology policy, R&D and industry competitiveness,
business development opportunity in especially Asia and perspectives on
global nanotechnology development.
Lerwen built the first Nanotechnology Information Program
at a Tokyo-based US science & technology information company, providing
exceptionally valued information services to the company’s worldwide
customers in industry and government bodies, focusing on the Nanotechnology
policy, R&D activities and trends in industry and research centers
across the Asia Pacific region. Since 2002, she has also been providing
valuable consulting services to the National Institute of Advanced Science
and Technology (AIST), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI),
Mitsubishi Research Institute (NRI), Doshisha University Business School
and NEDO in Japan; Invest Australia, Taiwan Academia Sinica, Zyvex Corporation
in USA and other prestigious nanotech organizations.
Affifliations
Lerwen is one of the founding members and the Secretary of Asia Nano Forum
(ANF, HQ in Singapore), which is a unique network organization in Nanotechnology
consisting of 13 member economies in Asia Pacific region. She is on the
advisory board of the first global Nanotechnology Opportunity Report (NOR),
the most comprehensive market report on Nanotechnology “Nanotechnology
Market and Company Report-Finding Hidden Pearls” published in March
2002 and written by a team of experts from Deutsche Bank and University
of Ulm in Germany, and the Nanotechnology Expert Committee of the Malaysian
Government Researchers’ Directory Exchange (REDEX).
Publications
Lerwen has written over 130 reports (during 2003-2006) providing insights
on nanotech policy, R&D and business trends in the Asia Pacific region.

sponsored by the Nanotechnology Research Institute (NRI) of AIST, Japan.
Lerwen has a PhD in physics specializing in many-body effects and transports
in semiconductor nanostructures, and has conducted research work in Australia,
Japan, USA and Italy.
Lerwen is an Australian citizen and currently based in Singapore.
