Post Doctoral Research Scientist
Zyvex Labs is looking for an STM expert to join our team in accomplishing the milestones of a current atomically precise manufacturing (APM) project. This expert will oversee the operation and development of an ultra-high vacuum scanning tunneling microscope system, as well as carry out experiments in atomically precise patterning of silicon and related surfaces. The Post Doc will develop a patterned atomic layer epitaxy technique with the goal of developing APM. In addition, the Post Doc will be required to interact with a large set of collaborators in industry, academia, and national laboratories, as well as contribute to the general knowledge of the field by publishing scientific papers. The Post Doc will write proposals for new projects and improve the value of the company by developing ideas that will lead to patents and trade secrets.

A PhD in Physics, Surface Science, or a related field from an accredited university is required. An engineering component to education is preferred.

Qualified candidates will have significant experience operating a UHV tunneling microscope or developing epitaxial processes (preferably layer by layer). Other required skills include computer programming (c, c++), fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking), excellent technical communication skills, familiarity with e-beam lithography, and experience with electron microscopy and/or surface analytical techniques. There will be some travel required for conferences and program reviews.
